Scope and Contents

Series I: A. Val Bradley Associates, Inc. Records, 1951-Circa 1980s, contains subject files including Communications Workers of America, Glendenning Motorways, Inc., various reports produced by the A. Val Bradley Associates, Inc., National Labor Relations Board case files and reports, union activity (Union Organizing Game), and miscellaneous papers related to union information in the United States.

Series II: Publications, Circa 1950s-1977, include materials related to labor organization in United States. Topics include United States labor union elections, labor laws and legislation, collective bargaining handbooks, and working class in United States. Titles are arranged in chronological order from earliest to latest.

Biographical or Historical Information

Val Bradley was a consultant and the president of A. Val Bradley Associates, Inc. based in Minnesota, Minneapolis and registered under Department of State (DOS # 435853) in May 26, 1977. The company became inactive on September 27, 1995 after being in business over 18 years - Dissolution by Proclamation / Annulment of Authority as recorded in documents filed with New York Department of State.

As a consultant, Val Bradley dealt with intensive, contract negotiations and related industrial relations experience, with labor unions of every size, their officers, organizers, negotiators, and the rank and file. He represented various companies over the years and participated numerous types of negotiations, prepared reports and identifying problems within the organization after interviewing with employees and supervisors. Bulk of his collection contains his activities with the association which includes reports, statements, correspondence, and memorandums that were created by A. Val Bradley Associates, Inc. Subject files kept in alphabetical order, topics include legal case files, study reports, and documents related to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), Glendenning Motorways, Inc., Wallace & Wallace Fuel Oil Company, and Communications Workers of America.

Abstract

Dr. A. Val Bradley was the president of A. Val Bradley Associates Incorporation, a lecturer, and an executive-in-residence at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He offered his company research files to Walter A. Bogumil, Jr., an Associate Professor of Management at UCF specialized in labor relations and human resources. Dr. Walter kept the materials in his possession and later on donated to Special Collections and University Archives Department. Materials include reports, statements, correspondence, and handbooks created by A. Val Bradley Associates, Inc. Collection also consists of legal case files, court hearing transcripts, news clippings, and published materials related to National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and labor union in the United States.

Method of Acquisition

Dr. Walter A. Bogumil, Jr. donated these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives. Date of aquisition is unknown (CFM19XX_01).

Processing Information

Files in binders were put into pH neutral folders. Metal clips and staples were removed and replaced with plastic clips. Then the collection was put into a pH neutral boxes. Collection processed by Suphi Burak Ogreten, finding aid prepared by Suphi Burak Ogreten.
