Scope and Contents
Series I: Reports, 1990-2002, holds mainly Space Transportation System (STS) mission press kits and Space Shuttle Mission Chronology reports.
Series II: Maps, 1996-1997, contains maps depicting the facilities at John F. Kennedy Space Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Cape Canaveral Air Station.

Biographical or Historical Information
The items presented here were collected by University of Central Florida (UCF) Librarian Meg Scharf and her husband Rick Scharf. Mrs. Scharf has worked for UCF since June 1984 and is currently Associate Director for Communication, Assessment, and Public Relations. Her husband Rick worked as a member of the press and attended a number of launches at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
Bulk of the collection includes Mission Press Kits (Reports) which are produced by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for shuttle flights to be distributed to press close to the event date such as launch, landing, encounter, and anniversary. Press kits provide important facts about each Space Transportation System (STS) mission. It includes media services information, mission background, mission overview, payload and cabin details, crew biographies, and quick look facts.
Space Shuttle Mission Chronology reports (1981-2001) can also be found in the collection which documents each STS mission's name, crew members, backup crews, orbiter preps, launch date, landing date, and mission highlights.
John F. Kennedy Space Center facility maps from 1996 and 1997 provides detailed information about Shuttle Landing Facility, Launch complex 39 VAB area, Launch complex 39 Pads A & B, Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Industrial area, and Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS) Industrial Area.

Abstract
This collection contains a variety of mission press kits (1990-2002) produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). These materials were donated to the University of Central Florida, Libraries by Meg and Rick Scharf. Mr. Scharf attended a number of launches as a member of the press and collected these press kits. A few Space Shuttle Mission Chronology reports (1981-2001) and John F. Kennedy Space Center Facility maps (1996-1997) can also be found in the collection.

Method of Acquisition
Meg Scharf and Rick Scharf donated these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives in 2007 (CFM2007_12).
Processing Information
The materials were taken out of the box and removed all the staples and metal paper clips. Then, the materials were placed in acid free folders and housed in a proper archival box.
