Abstract
The Vertical Files Collection, 1872-2016, is an artificial collection, contains a wide variety of collected materials documenting or relevant to Central Florida's local history. Collection also includes subject materials such as book arts, typography, travel, tourism, and the West Indies. Included are newsletters, magazines, news clippings, reports, pamphlets, documents, photographs, and handbooks.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Vertical Files were collected over time by Special Collections staff to serve as a reference file for subjects relating to the collections held in the Special Collections. The purpose of the vertical file was to house small and random items on a variety of topics to assist researchers. These topics include Central Florida institutions, events, and organizations; topical files for artists in the Bryant West Indies collection; materials related to fine bindings, printers, presses, and rare book formats; and a small collection of printed materials related to Travel and Tourism. This collection is on-going project, therefore additional materials are being added as received.

This collection is arranged alphabetically from A-Z order according to subject area.
Method of Acquisition
The University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives Staff created the collection in 2016 (CFM2016_02). It is an on-going project; therefore, additional materials will be added to the collection as received.
Processing Information
Documents are filed in alphabetical order by topic and stored in acid free folders and boxes.
