Biographical or Historical Information
Established in 1973, the UCF Police Department currently employs approximately 60 sworn law enforcement officers, serving nearly 50,000 people in an area of more than 2.2 square miles. The department maintains its own Criminal Investigations Division and also runs a Community Relations Unit that develops community outreach programs and assists with student activities and orientations.

Abstract
This collection contains documents related to the UCF Police Department. Included are a number of training and evaluation manuals, memoranda, related UCF memorabilia and newspaper clippings that highlight police activities both on campus and in the community.

Troy Wiliamson transferred these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collection and University Archives in 2005 (CFU2005_33).

Processing Information
Collection processed by and finding aid prepared by John Venecek in 2009. Placed documents in acid-free folders, placed negatives in acid-free sleeves, removed staples and paper clips, made copies of newspaper articles. The finding aid was placed into Archon, with adjustments made for Archon and resulting in edition 2, by Mary Rubin in 2015. The acquisition method field and the subjects were updated by Kryslynn Collazo in 2018, resulting in edition 3.
