Scope and Contents
Series I: Division of Sponsored Research Files, 1980-1987 contains the files of the Division of Sponsored Research within the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. The files contain information on such entities as Center for Electro Optics and Lasers, the Institute for Simulation and Training and the Florida Hi-Tech and Industrial Council. It contains documents from as early as 1980, but the bulk of the collections spans the years of 1985 to 1987.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Office of Research and Commercialization serves UCF scholars as the official liaison between UCF and external agencies by providing a helping hand for faculty working their way through the funding and contract management process. The Office helps establish connections with the agency and individuals who invest in the promise of research and creative activities. During the 1980s the office was known as the Office and Research and Graduate Studies, which were eventually separated into two separate offices.

Processing Information
Collection processed by and finding aid prepared by Jessica Achberger in 2006. This collection was processed according to the file system of the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, provided by a file code within the collection. Metal paper clips were replaced with plastic clips and all materials are stored in acid free folders The finding aid was updated for consistency among all collections by Mary Rubin in 2012, resulting in edition 2. The finding aid was placed into Archon, with adjustments made for Archon and resulting in edition 3, by Mary Rubin in 2015. The acquisition method field and the subjects were updated by Kryslynn Collazo in 2018, resulting in edition 4.
