Scope and Contents

The UCF Women's Club Collection reflects the history of the University's organization for female faculty, staff and spouses from its inception in 1969. The collection consists of club officer reports, publications, information on special events, photographic scrapbooks, memorabilia, and other ephemera documenting club activities.

Series I: Officer Files, 1968-2006 contain records kept by the different officers, including presidents, secretaries and treasurers, of the UCF Women's Club during a particular year. As individuals did not often hold a particular office for more than one year, there are many different systems of organization; however, all contain similar materials directly relating to their position within the Club.

Series II: Publications, 1969-2003 consist of the two main publications of the UCF Women's Club, their newsletter and the annual yearbook. The newsletter served as an informational bulletin to keep members informed of upcoming events, while the yearbook acted as a membership directory and a way of highlighting the activities of the Club in a given year.

Series III: Special Event Files, 1969-2000 include information about the different special events conducted by the UCF Women's Club. While this information can often also be found in officer files, these files give a more detailed information about a particular event including specific information about event organization. Events included in this series are the annual auction and luncheons, and the series also contains materials related to the endowed scholarships of the club as well as partnerships held with other community organizations.

Series IV: Scrapbooks, Photos and Memorabilia, 1969-2007 contains keepsake materials related to the history of the UCF Women's Club. The club's historian creates a scrapbook each year documenting the activities of the Club, which are included in this series. The series also includes loose photographs and other memorabilia, such as plaques and guest books.

The club is run by elected officers, including a president, secretary, treasurer and historian, who form an executive board. The organization has provided three endowed scholarships named for the University's current and former president's wives, as well as numerous other projects designed to positively influence the University and the Central Florida community.
