Note(s): The interview begins with the childhood of Ms. Cheslick who grew up in rural Kentucky during the depression era. She later married a man who was drafted and served in WWII. The story relates the experiences of a wife left at home while her husband serves overseas. Although the marriage did not last, Barbara later married Luke Cheslick, who also served in the war, but was reluctant to talk about it.
