Summary:
The unconfined Biscayne aquifer underlies all of Dade County, Florida. This aquifer is wedge-shaped and comprised primarily of limestone, sandstone, and sand. Because of interest in the East Everglades area as a recharge area in Dade County, the Metropolitan Dade County Planning Department requested the U.S. Geological Survey to prepare a map defining the base of the Biscayne aquifer in the East Everglades.
