Summary:
Methods of chemical analyses used during monthly transects of the estuary are those outlined by F.H. Rainwater and L.L. Thatcher in Methods for collections and analysis of water samples: U.S. Geol. Survey Water-Supply Paper 1454, 1960 with the following exception: Dissolved oxygen was determined by the Alsterberg modification of the Winkler method as described by Keith V. Slack in A micro kit for dissolved oxygen determination: (U.S. Geological Survey) Water Resources Division Bulletin, February 1965. At the three stations in the estuary monthly chlorinity ranges are determined from specific conductivity data recorded continuously. Automatically recording instruments provide water level and discharge and temperature data.
