Scope and Contents
Series I: Planning Files, 1967-1989 includes documents, correspondence, budgets, and news clippings related to the planning of the 25th anniversary.
Series II: Event Files, 1970-1989 includes correspondence, budgets, invitations, programs, news clippings, photographs, and memorabilia from the events included in the 25th anniversary celebration. It is divided into three subseries: files for the Gala Ball, files for the reenactment groundbreaking, and files for other small events.

Biographical or Historical Information
In 1988 the University of Central Florida celebrated its 25th anniversary, dated from 1963 when the university was created by the Florida legislature. The anniversary was celebrated throughout the year with multiple events culminating in a Gala Ball in November. Almost every event associated with the university that year was tied into the 25th anniversary celebration. Many different groups worked together to plan the events, most notably University Relations, the UCF Foundation, the UCF Town and Gown Council , and the Alumni Association. In addition to the Gala Ball, events included a reenactment of the original groundbreaking ceremony, a concert series, and the World's Largest Class Reunion.

Abstract
In 1988 the University of Central Florida celebrated the 25th anniversary of its founding in 1963. This collection contains documents, correspondence, invitations, and programs from the events held to celebrate the university's anniversary.
Arrangement Note
This collection is divided into two series: Planning Files and Event Files. The second series is broken down into three subseries: Gala Ball, Groundbreaking, and Other Events. All files are arranged alphabetically within series or subseries.
Method of Acquisition
It is unknown who transferred these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives in 1989. (CFU1989_03). It is believed the University Relations Office transferred these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives in 1989.

Processing Information
Collection processed by and finding aid prepared by Anna Bjornsson in 2008. Documents were placed in acid free folders and photographs and slides were placed into archival quality sleeves. Faded fax documents were typed, printed, and placed with the originals. The finding aid was updated for consistency among all collections by Mary Rubin in 2012, resulting in edition 2 of the finding aid. The finding aid was placed into Archon, with adjustments made for Archon and resulting in edition 3, by Mary Rubin in 2015. The acquisition method field and the subjects were updated by Kryslynn Collazo in 2018, resulting in edition 4.
