Scope and Contents

Series I: CFU2011_17, 1995-2012 contains the records by Belinda Boston, who served as the President of the Black Faculty and Staff Association in 2011. The series contains organization papers, such as meeting minutes, flyers, correspondence, directories, and budget planning documents as well as information regarding the scholarships offered by the Black Faculty and Staff Association.

Series II: CFU2013_28, 1978-2008 contains the records of Anjella Warnshuis, who served as the Historian for the University of Central Florida Black Faculty and Staff Association in 2013. The series contains organization papers, such as meeting minutes, flyers, correspondence, directories, and budget planning documents.

Series III: CFU2015_10, 1996-2014 Series contains the records of Anjella Warnshuis, who was co-chair of the events planning committee in 2013. The collection contains organization papers, such as meeting minutes, flyers and agendas. This series also contains event planning documents for 2013.

Biographical or Historical Information

The University of Central Florida's Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA), established in 1994, is an organization representative of University of Central Florida's goal to be more inclusive and diverse. The BFSA's mission is to promote an environment which fosters cultural sensitivity and enrichment by providing quality programming, networking opportunities and guidance to UCF's black students, faculty and staff, and the greater UCF community.

The Black Faculty and Staff Association places a lot of it resources towards student mentoring programs such as the LEGACY mentoring program. The mentoring programs focus on increasing retention rates, helping students develop leadership skills, and assisting students in reaching their personal, academic and career goals.

The Black Faculty and Staff Association has also held its annual Mentoring Breakfast in order to raise funds for its programs. Through these programs, the Black Faculty and Staff Association has been able to offer scholarships, such as the Cheryl Green Scholarship and the Dr. Tee Collins Scholarship.

Abstract

Since its establishment in 1994, the Black Faculty and Staff Association works to provide mentoring and opportunities for students at the University of Central Florida. This collection of records contains documents related to these subjects.

Arrangement Note

This collection is arranged in three series: CFU2011_17, CFU2013_28, and CFU2015_10. The series were determined by the order in which the items were provided to University Archives to chronologically maintain the context of the creators.

Method of Acquisition

Belinda Boston transferred these materials to the University of Central Florida Libraries, Special Collection and University Archives in 2011 (CFU2011_17). Anjella Warnshuis transferred additional materials inĀ  in 2013 (CFU2013_28) and in 2015 (CFU2015_10).

Processing Information

Collection processed by and finding aid prepared by Jay Aguilar in 2017. Staples and paperclips were removed from documents and replaced with plastic clips. All material were placed into acid free folders and in an acid free box. Photographs were placed into archival quality sleeves. Copies were made of the two compact disks found in the collection. Redactions were made where necessary. The acquisition method field and the subjects were updated by Kryslynn Collazo in 2018, resulting in edition 2.
