Summary:
The suggested policies in this document are an attempt to articulate how the state coastal management program intends to treat various coastal zone activities and geographic areas. While many, if not most of the suggested policies are based upon existing statutory and administrative authorities, potential legal deficiencies are recognized. Upon finalization, the suggested policy statements should provide a "common language" for facilitating consistency between federal, state and local coastal management efforts and satisfying requirements of the National Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972.
