ASR with treated drinking water is cost-effective, viable and widely implemented. ASR with raw groundwater is cost-effective, viable and beginning to be implemented. Only water meeting applicable quality standards will be used for ASR. ASR with surface water offers potential cost benefits. However, further effort is required to evaluate technical and economic uncertainties as well as regulatory impediments. The Governor's commission has the opportunity to encourage resolution of these uncertainties. Such resolution may help to sustain South Florida in the future.
