Etchings depict graphic scenes related to the war with each sketch part of a set of 30 from a book titled Sketches from the Civil War in North America, 1861, ’62, ’63 / by V. Blada.. Adalbert J. Volck went under the pseudynom of V. Blada. Free Negroes in Hayti, 1863 is a sketch of native people dancing around a baby stabbed in the chest.
